Ghana Conference on Technology & Outsourcing

His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, at the invitation of Columbia University President Lee Bollinger, is scheduled to speak at the World Leaders Forum [Special Focus on Ghana] at Columbia University on Thursday, September 25, 2003.

On the same day at the Columbia University campus, The Ghana Cyber Group, Inc., in conjunction with the Ghana Network at Columbia University, will host the 1st Annual Ghana Conference on Technology & Outsourcing. The conference seeks to:

(1) Assemble leading corporate executives in the United States to learn more about the emerging technology and business process outsourcing opportunities in Ghana. A small but growing number of American entrepreneurs and venture capitalists have discovered Ghanas favorable business climate and the countrys enormous potential in exporting business and technology services.

(2) Pitch a 35-page presentation and a business plan to establish an outsourcing center in Ghana. GCG has identified a number of wealthy entrepreneurs who may be interested in the project and the conference will bring together more potential investors to study the proposed venture. GCG will make a case for establishing a $10 million technology park near the 6-square-mile campus of the University of Science & Technology. A 100-staff business process outsourcing center (estimate $1 million) in Kumasi will be the first step toward realizing this modest plan.
